ALLIANCE OF MOMS IS A NEW GENERATION OF PHILANTHROPISTS WHOSE MISSION IS TO BREAK THE INTERGENERATIONAL CYCLE OF FOSTER CARE

Founded in 2014, Alliance of Moms is a membership-based program that supports pregnant and parenting teens in foster care in Los Angeles County. We are part of the Alliance for Children's Rights, a four-star Charity Navigator nonprofit founded in 1992.

Young adults aging out of foster care have a significantly increased risk of homelessness, economic instability and poverty. In Los Angeles, 58% of young women in foster care experience at least one pregnancy by age 19 and their children have a higher likelihood of entering foster care themselves. Therefore, the Alliance of Moms mission is to help break the intergenerational cycle of foster care. We offer educational programs to young parents in the foster care system with a focus on practical tools that empower them to build resilient families and become informed parents who can give their babies a healthy childhood.

Our flagship event, Raising Baby, has a curriculum focused on early brain development. We invite more than 50 young moms in foster care to participate in expert-led workshops while over 100 Alliance of Moms members volunteer on the day. We also offer a mentoring program in partnership with Imagine LA and St. Anne's residential facility, and present Raising Foodies, a healthy cooking class for pregnant and parenting young women living at St. Anne's.

New members are introduced to Alliance of Moms through Cocktails & Conversation evenings throughout the year. Our partners include CuddleBright, Munchkin, Ergobaby, Mini Maven, LOOM, and The Book Foundation.
